Soon after the establishment of the auto industry in the US, the contemporary RV industry was developed. Amongst these early businesses, Airstream was created and is still in business these days though the majority of them were small operations and are not working anymore. Nevertheless, the 1950's saw a divergence from this style and mobile homes, as they are currently called, became a lot bigger and less mobile. This led to the development of a different industry which began to design self-contained RVs.
